Our mission is to provide nurturing care and educational development to children while also supporting families. We focus on developmentally appropriate practices and ensuring that each child’s individuality is embraced to fortify their love of education to be life-long learners.

Intentional Teaching
At the State of Illinois Child Development Center, we know that each child has a unique style of learning. Our staff takes the time to teach, guide, and support your child in a learning process that follows your child's lead. Our teachers plan activities with specific outcomes or goals in mind for all domains of children's development and learning.
Educational Experiences
The State of Illinois Child Development Center uses Creative Curriculum, which has been named the most widely used curriculum in the country. We build learning experiences around children’s developing confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills through hands-on, project-based investigations. To enhance our curriculum we provide Spanish and sign language, and other educational enrichment experiences to broaden your child's lens of learning.
Peace of Mind
We understand how difficult it may be leaving your child in the care of others. We are honored that you are entrusting us to care for your child. To offer some additional peace of mind, all of our staff are certified in Child CPR/ first aid. The vast majority of our lead teachers have an undergraduate degree in early childhood education/ child development or related field. Teachers are also required to participate in on-going professional development. In addition to highly qualified staff, we are also NAEYC accredited and hold Illinois' highest standard of quality in child care (ExceleRate Gold Circle).
Healthy Meals
Children are served breakfast, a hot lunch and two 2 snacks daily. We know children are more likely to make healthy food choices when they are a part of the preparation, so we set aside "cooking" days to allow your child to take part in making their own meal or snack!
Rooftop Playground
Being located in the heart of the Loop, we are no strangers to the limited outdoor spaces that children are able to use daily. Our center is housed in a secure government building. On the rooftop is our playground where children go outside for 1 hour, daily as long as weather permits. There are many large muscle activities for children to choose from including riding trikes and two slides on a large playset that has lots of opportunities to safely climb.
Keeping You Informed
We use Procare for signing the children in and out and to update you throughout the day. You'll love being able to receive pictures of your little one while they are at school! Our staff excels at parent communication and will always work with you to make sure any and all questions and concerns are addressed.
